Downbeat Magazine “Rising Flute Star,” Sylvain Leroux is a notable player on New York City’s African and improvised music scene, his group “Source” hosted the African Jazz Friday at the Zinc Bar for twelve years. His 2012 CD, titled “Quatuor Creole,” was hailed by critics as “perfect contemporary music release.” He is the inventor of the (patented) chromatic tambin, a new take on a traditional instrument. Since 2013, he has been conducting a successful music literacy pilot program based on his invention in Guinea, West Africa.

He will be performing in duet with Andy Algire, virtuoso percussionist and veteran of many African music groups and performances in the United States.
